I began planning this amazing family holiday for 11 in October 2015. My husband had never been on holiday with my family and what better way to bond with my whole family whilst on holiday. This was my first holiday with three cheeky toddlers and I couldn’t wait to get up to lots of mischiefs with them.
As the time for the holiday drew closer we couldn’t wait to get on that flight to Fuerteventura and enjoy the scorching sun, swim in the pool and of course in the Atlantic sea.
I started gathering my Aloe holiday essentials a week before and couldn’t wait to finally try the Aloe Sunscreen. This water-resistant SPF 30 sunscreen contains soothing aloe vera which helps to protect your skin from the effects of the sun’s UVA and UVB rays. The silky, smooth and easy-to-absorb formula can also double up as an after sun lotion. This worked great on my dry and eczema prone skin.
Below are my holiday essentials which I used every day.
Every morning we woke up at 8:30 or 9 am, jumped into our costumes and went for a lush breakfast which included fresh fruits, fresh juices, a traditional fry-up and some delicious biscuits. I ensured I was always well hydrated by drinking plenty water. As soon as we finished breakfast we strolled down to the poolside and reserved some beds for all of us and jumped into the pool. The kids enjoyed swimming loads and we all got up to plenty mischief with them. We would swim for about an hour or so after which the mojitos and pints of beer started rolling in. It got hotter every day but luckily there was a cool breeze which we thoroughly enjoyed. We swam in the freezing Atlantic sea a couple of times. The salt water is said to be incredibly good for eczema prone skin. After a dip in the sea, I’d have to rinse myself under the poolside showers to stop the skin from burning due to the contact with the salty water.
Every afternoon I would normally enjoy a siesta after which we would rush to the room to shower and get ready for an early dinner due to the kids. After dinner, we would go for a stroll on the beach where on the first night we spotted an incredible ice cream place which served yummy gelato ice cream and we also learned they had a very nice dinner/lunch menu too. The staff were so friendly and delighted to see us back there on the second day.
Edging towards the end of our holiday we were very tempted to extend our stay by a couple of days as we felt the week flew by very quickly. On our last day, we made the most of the sun and pool. When we landed at Gatwick, London we were welcomed with heavy rain and it felt like we had never left England to go on holiday. Fortunately, from the next day, we have had beautiful and warms days in London where at one point the temperatures were more than they were in Fuerteventura. My family from Kenya flew back today, Saturday 23rd July and this officially marks it the end of the holiday and the start to healthy eating once again.
I am definitely looking forward to my next holiday which my husband and I have started looking into already. Till then, let’s hope the hot weather lasts!
